Mi piace da impazzire il progetto fotografico 'Dear Stranger' (Berlino/New York/Londra/Tokio, 1998-2000) di Shizuka Yokomizo. L'artista ritrae dei perfetti sconosciuti attraverso la finestra della loro abitazione ma (diversamente da quanto accade di solito) non lo fa di nascosto, lascia una lettera anonima in cui chiede un appuntamento e rivela la propria identità solo dopo aver scattato la foto ed averla inviata via posta ordinaria per ottenere l'autorizzazione al suo utilizzo. Nessun rapporto tra artista e soggetto fotografato. Nessun contatto fisico. Solo la breve condivisione preannunciata di uno spazio intimo. Io trovo che questo mix di voyerismo e complicità sia molto poetico e quanto mai affascinante. Di seguito il (bellissimo) testo della lettera: 'Dear Stranger, I am an artist working on a photographic project which involves people I do not know... I would like to take a photograph of you standing in your front room from the street in the evening. A camera will be set outside the window on the street. If you do not mind being photographed, please stand in the room and look into the camera through the window for 10 minutes on dd/mm/yy... I will take your picture and then leave... we will remain stranger to each other... If you do not want to get involved, please simply draw your refusal... I really hope to see you from the window. Faithfully, Artist'.
